Some Gigs and Some Free Music

Appendices

Some free music and upcoming events I think are worth drawing to your attention.

First TV21 play Bannermans in Edinburgh on Friday (8th February) supported by teh wonderful We Were Promised Jetpacks. This is their first home town headline slot in almost 18 months so it is definitely worth catching. Their Myspace also suggests that there will be more new material on display.

De Rosa have started a ‘peripheral’ project entitled Appendices with a new track released on the first Monday of each month this year. On the evidence of the two tracks so far it’s hard to believe these are songs which aren’t good enough for the new LP. The initial song ‘It Lives In Parks’ was pretty good but ‘Ore’ released yesterday is even better. The tracks are available from both their Myspace and the impressive revamped official site. The band have also got a live date on 29th February at the 13th Note Café.

Isa & The Filthy Tongues have made 2 new tracks available in the last few weeks to subscribers to their email service. A demo of live favourite ‘Big Star’ and a Velvet Underground cover ‘I Can’t Stand It’ have picked up favourable press coverage so subscribe and check these out. The Filthy Tongues play a headline gig at the Voodoo Rooms, Edinburgh on Thursday 6th March.

Finally there’s more free music available from Kristin Hersh at CASH Music. ‘Around Dusk’ is the 3rd track from the next solo KH LP, ‘Speedbath’ and like its predecessors ‘Slippershell’ and ‘Torque’ is very good indeed. Get them all here. But please consider subscribing to support Kristin make music.

Kristin also debuts a spoken word live project, ‘Paradoxical Undressing’ at Glasgow St Andrews Square on 25th March whilst there is also a date at London at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, on the 26th. Tickets.
