A little Dundee music related news.
I’ve mentioned this show before but since it’s only a couple of weeks away it seems worth mentioning again.
Two Winners, who put on the Meursault/Fuzzy Lights show in Dundee in November, have a very attractive double header with Mitchell Museum and the Scottish Enlightenment on Thursday 7th April at Dexter’s. Also on the bill are local band Dormant Figure. Advance tickets are £5 plus booking fee and can be obtained in person from Groucho’s or online at WeGotTickets.com.
Panda Su officially launches her new E.P. ‘I Begin’ at Drouthy’s in Dundee on 21st April. Tickets £6 on the door, more info here.
Sticking with Dundee, the Wildhouse issue their first release of 2011 on 17 Seconds Records. The ‘Good Morning, Captain’ E.P. is available from tomorrow but slightly bizzarely doesn’t seem to be mentioned on the label’s own website. The e.p.’s four tracks include ‘Go’ which they played at the MPT De Rosa show back in November 2008 plus ‘Palatine’, ‘Palace of Words’ and the 17 minute ‘Calvinball’. I don’t know if there’s a physical release but I’m certain that it will be available in all the usual download stores.
Hopefully the E.P. is a prelude to the release of the band’s latest L.P. ‘Jackson 56′ which has been in the can for ages.
Not so Dundee related, in fact not Dundee related at all, but Limbo Live have some interesting upcoming shows in Edinburgh, as ever. I really need to get along to one. First on 25th March (this Friday) Over The Wall play the Vooddoo Rooms with support fromFor Abel and Dupec then on 2nd April Meyrsault play with Conquering Animal Sound and Jonnie Common. Finally Kid Canaveral, currently ensconced in Texas at SXSW play the same venue on Thursday 24th May with The Lovely Eggs, Cancel The Astronauts and Zed Penguin.
