Following a weekend of missed opportunities (Viv Albertine, Fence Hott Loggz, Toad in Cellardyke, Magazine et al) I revisited 2011’s British Sea Power LP yesterday (‘Valhalla Dancehall’) and really enjoyed the early songs. Thereafter the quality of the record is variable in the extreme and definitely overlong. I still feel that with a decent amount of pruning and the inclusion of a couple of tracks from the experimental ‘Zeus’ LP, it could have been a much, much better record.

Here’s a cracking live version though of one of the tracks which makes the record worthwhile.

Off to Glasgow tomorrow night to see Throwing Muses. Should be great!
