Inevitably there are compromises in my gig going and there are always some surprising stats about band’s I’ve seen and, more often, bands (and shows) I’ve missed. One of the omissions of 2011 (so far) is undoubtedly that of Vladimir. Since releasing their debut EP a few months ago they’ve been making quite a noise, in more ways than one and having been attracting attention the length and breadth of the country. Their recent experiences have also filled them with confidence for 2012 – as the following interview with Ross from the band shows!
Your own Musical highlight of the year
Every time we perform ‘Mellow’. No one can stop us when we play that – it’s like the world stands still.
Favourite performance of the year
Would have to be supporting The Twilight Sad at the Doghouse that was pretty special.
What inspired you musically in 2011?
The shit people speak.
What you gonna be doing next year?
Travelling far and wide in hope of spreading the word of what we do.
Song and/or LP of 2011?
Iceage – New Brigade
Best gig attended?
Probably She’s Hit when we supported them at the start of this year at Dexters – they just blew me away. Sound of Guns also put on a great show at their Rockness set.
Who should we be looking out for in 2012?
Anything and everything
Event of 2011
Any of our gigs. each stands on its own.
Lowpoint of 2011
Hearing that Noel Gallagher album. God that was balls! (MPT – What did you expect??)
Hero of 2011
Villain of 2011
Something to look forward to in 2012?
Vladimir taking things to new levels.
