Yep, it’s finally here. The second night of the Cool Cat Club is at Beat Generator Live, this very evening, featuring a terrific array of talent.

The co-headliners are both from out of town.

Whigs & Rakes aren’t coming too far, just from Perth, and are no strangers to Dundee audiences. Singer Kitty describes them as “Noisy. Melodic. Catchy. Eerie?” That works for me. Live they’re a pretty exciting proposition. Come and check them out.

The Bad Books are based in Edinburgh even if singer Graeme Anderson is an ex-pat Ferry resident. I’ve written about them plenty since first seeing them last September and for me they’re just about the most exciting band in Scotland that haven’t released anything. Actually they’re close to being the most exciting band in Scotland! Tonight is their Dundee debut.

The show also features the ever intriguing Hookers for Jesus who are on the point of releasing their first studio recordings into the world. None of the shows I’ve seen them play have been the same – what they have in store for us tonight is one of the evening’s unwrapped surprises.

Opening the show in only their third performance are Playground Tactics. What little I’ve heard has got me keen to hear more.

If you want to know more about any of the acts then just look back over the last few days – there are interviews with all of them.

Doors for the show open at 8 pm and attendance is a paltry £4.

The perfect alternative for anyone already sick of the wall to wall saturation coverage of that London sporting event.
