This blog seems to have some sort of reach over the Atlantic so it’s probably worth alerting State-side readers that one of Scotland’s finest is heading West for 9 dates in the USA and Canada in the very near future.

Whilst the jump across the Pond is not without precedent in the Scottish indie scene, most bands that have made the journey have tended to do so with record company support. But the industrious Kid C have pretty much done this under their own steam, having built up contacts in the States last year when over for SXSW.
It’s an admirable venture which shows just why Kid C are possibly the ‘most likely to’ band in Scotland at the moment. I wish them all the best for the trip. And if there’s anyone over there who does catch the band in the States, why not drop by and let me know?
Scottish fans need not feel too left out in coming months. Whilst the big touring push on LP number two will follow in the New Year, the band have a number of interesting shows lined up before and on their return from North America.
On Friday (5th) they’re playing Josie Long’s ‘Adventure and Romance’ Fundraiser at Where The Monkey Sleeps, Glasgow School of Art, Finnieston Campus, 45 Finnieston St, Finnieston, Glasgow, G3 8JU. The set is being billed as a ‘stripped back’ performance.
On Friday 26th October, David will be taking part in a Fence Collective performance at the launch of Randolph Leap’s debut EP for Fence at the Glad Cafe in Glasgow.
The following weekend, the band will perform a semi-acoustic set at the Aberfeldy Festival which has an impressive line-up this year. (Tickets)
Of course on 11th November, they will be performing a set at A Brighter Beat, the MPT organised mini-festival in Cupar with Cancel The Astronauts, Martin John Henry, The Bad Books, TV21 and Sam Barber and the Outcasts. (Tickets)
The year will be completed by a DJ set at the Cancel The Astronauts LP launch at the Electric Circus in Edinburgh on 30 November whilst David will be performing solo sets in Cardiff (Chapter Arts Centre – 15th December) and London (Bloomsbury Theatre – 16th and 17th, although the first show is sold out).
Then to complete the year, there is of course the by now legendary Christmas Baubles show on Saturday 22nd December at the Caves in Edinburgh with so far announced acts – Meursault, Fever Fever, RM Hubbert and Randolph’s Leap. (tickets)
