If there’s going to be an MPT Band of the Year it would have to be a toss-up between Cancel The Astronauts and the Bad Books. Both have featured on here extensively in the last 12 months so it was inevitable that one of them would pop up in this series. But since Matt from Cancel The Astros did the 2011 series, he was spared the chore this year and instead Graeme and Scott Badbooks are stepping up to the plate.
Your own musical highlight of the year?
G – The whole year has went pretty well for us. We’ve had lots of positive feedback about our shows and picked up a few fans along the way. It’s definitely given us the appetite to get out and do more. Bring on 2013!
S – What he said.
Favourite performance of the year?
G – Think our set supporting Kid Canaveral at Electric Circus was pretty fab!
S – I have to say that despite the large pole in the middle of the dancefloor, Electric Circus has been a great venue for us. The sound on stage is great and the crowds are always fab.
What’s the one thing that went wrong in 2012 you’d like to fix?
G – We should’ve got our finger out a bit earlier and recorded some tunes.
S – Agreed. However it has been an action packed year for each of us individually.
What you gonna be doing next year?
G – Lots of gigs, maybe more recording and hopefully a festival or two.
S – If we play our cards right, our EP will sell a couple of million copies and we will begin our first arena tour with U2 and Bon Jovi supporting. We are all about the Jovi.
