Here’s a couple of new tunes from a single and an E.P. out about now from two bands from opposite sides of the Atlantic. If you’re arriving as a fan of one, give the other video a whirl – you may well find that it appeals to you.

First up (above)  is ‘That’s Right’, the second ‘single’ from Tuff Love ‘Dross’ E.P. on Lost Map Records. ‘That’s Right’ is another infectious blast of grungey pop from a band that are surely going places in 2015. ‘Dross’ is available on 10″ vinyl (and download) from Lost Map here and I really need to get round to ordering it.

In not dissimilar vein is ‘Lose Control’ from Canadian band, Catlow. After a decent chunk of 2012’s ‘Pinkly Things’ E.P. suggested a more pop orientated approach, ‘Lose Control’ turns the guitars up again and sounds like it would fit just nicely onto the rather marvellous debut LP ‘Kiss The World’ (from nearly 10 years ago!)

I would like to buy it but it only seems be available from the Canadian iTunes store at present and that’s not playing ball with me at the moment.

Both bands launch their records this weekend – Tuff Love tonight (Friday 6th) at Nice’N’Sleazys in Glasgow and Catlow at the Cobalt in Vancouver tomorrow (Saturday 7th).

By coincidence, both bands have done 2 interviews for MPT in recent years.

Natasha from Catlow spoke to me back in July (and December) 2012 whilst Suze and Julie from Tuff Love featured as recently as November and December  last year.
