Gargleblast Records released their first record of 2015 last week in the shape of the Mayor Stubbs E.P.

It’s a record of off kilter acoustic tunes which contrasts quirky vocals with some impressive and unusual guitar playing which in part reminds me of a hyperactive R.M. Hubbert. And that’s without mentioning  what otherwise might be described as power chords on ‘Rivals Unions’!

Not surprisingly it’s the music that helps the ‘Mayor Stubbs E.P.’ stand out from the crowd not least because there’s spontaneity to the song structures which makes it seem like the Mayor is making it up as he goes along. But in a good way.

Here’s a live video of one of the songs from the E.P. which I think gives you a good idea of what to expect:

The E.P. is available as a download from the Gargleblast Bandcamp. Mayor Stubbs supports Henry & Fleetwood at their E.P. launch at the Glad Café in Glasgow on Saturday 11th April.
