Sadly I couldn’t summon up the energy to go and see Tuff Love at Summerhall last night. So instead here’s a quick mention of their debut LP ‘Resort’ and a couple of videos.
Out on Lost Map, ‘Resort’ collects together the band’s three EPs to date in chronological order (although not ‘Groucho’ their contribution to the split single with Lazy Day).
As a consequence it feels more like a compilation rather than a proper album even if familiarity with the EPs means that there’s a natural flow between the songs.
Most importantly it’s packed with great songs from early gems like ‘Sweet Discontent’ and ‘Penguin’ through to newer favourites such as ‘Duke’ and ‘Crocodile’.
Great though ‘Resort’ is, I can’t help but think that Tuff Love can only get better from here on.
First off is a song that I first heard as an encore when Andy and myself put them on in May last year:
And also from the third EP, here’s their newest video for ‘Crocodile’:
‘Resort’ is available from Lost Map and all good record shops.
The band are currently on tour with UK dates in Hebden Bridge (24th) and London (The Brewhouse, 25th).
There’s a Glasgow show at the QMU on 12th March before the band head off for a European tour taking in Germany, Switzerland, France and Belgium.
