Song of the Week (3) – Life Model

We first came across Life Model at Randolph Leap’s ICDTTM4 last year and really enjoyed their performance.

On investigating further, the records available at the time seemed to be a couple of years old but the band have finally got round to remedying that with the release a couple of months ago of new E.P. ‘Lucky’ on Frux Tapes.

Life Model seem to operate in the sort of territory currently staked out by the likes of Desperate Journalist on the one hand and Fazerdaze on the other. Indeed they supported DJ at their Glasgow show earlier in the year.

Looking further backwards the more pop orientated approach of the four songs on ‘Lucky’ however suggest the likes of Belly at their shiniest and the title track is perhaps the best example of this.

As suggested by the Durham based label’s name, the E.P. is available on that new fangled format, cassette, and download here.

They have upcoming live shows as follows:

Saturday 30th September – Music For Mental Health – Boghall Parish Church · Bathgate (with IDKID and ADULLBOY)

Thursday 5th October – The Hug & Pint – Glasgow) (with Peaness and Depeche Choad)
