Even now I still seem to completing my 2018 listening. Which partly explains, not just the random nature of this series, but perhaps why excellent releases from the likes of Sharon van Etten, the Twilight Sad and, more recently, Bob Mould, haven’t yet quite gained the traction that they merit.
Into that category I’d also place ‘The Space Between The Trees’, the new EP from Wozniak. Well, they’re calling it an EP but at nearly 40 minutes, it’s actually longer than Bob’s new LP. So new EP or even a second LP, the choice is yours.
‘The Space Between The Trees’ is probably the band’s dreamiest record to date as I think the ‘single’ from the record illustrates:
‘The Space …’ is available directly from the band on CD and, for the first time, on vinyl, as well as select record stores such as Assai in Edinburgh and Broughty Ferry and Reflex in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The band’s EP launch show in Edinburgh tomorrow night at the Wee Red Bar also features MPT favourites Fuzzystar. But sadly, having missed the album launch at the same venue due to illness a couple of years ago, it’s a show I’m forsaking for the chance to see Bodega in Glasgow with MPK2. But you can go – more info here.
However, Wozniak have just been announced as one of the supports for the Brix and the Extricated show in Dundee on Saturday 2nd March (along with locals Drainpipe) so I won’t have long to wait to hear some of the new stuff live. More info here.
