Song of the Week #9 (2020) – Jill Lorean

Jill Lorean

This week’s song of the week comes from an artist who’s featured a lot in live reviews  on the blog in the last 18 months or so.

Jill Lorean, of course, is the performing name of Jill O’Sullivan late of Sparrow & The Workshop and B|DY_PRTS.

Since starting to perform live in her own right, Jill has been support of choice for a number of different artists including Broken Chanter and De Rosa whilst at the same time working on her first solo EP ‘Not Your First’ which is scheduled for release on 4 May.

A single from the record was released on Tuesday and anyone who has seen her live, either on her own or occasionally with Andy Monaghan (bass) and Peter Kelly (drums) will recognise ‘Eyes To The Bird’ immediately. It’s a recording that recalls the finest work of S&TW which bodes particularly well for the EP, also recorded with Andy and Peter. Here’s the video for the song:

Inevitably the launch gig  at the Hug & Pint has been postponed but, as far as I’m aware, doesn’t yet have a new date.

In the meantime, however, you can pre-order the EP on 12″ vinyl, here.
